Seamstress Tag x Goodco Studios

Last fall, Chris Mai of Goodco Studios got in touch about collaborating on a video featuring my sewing. I’ve known Chris since we were baby teenagers; my memories from that time include Chris giving me private singing lessons for free, Chris’s impeccable taste in clothing, and his mad creative and musical skills gracing everything he touched. That, combined with all of his other skills and talents, turned him on to videography. Fast forward to the last few years, where he’s been increasingly more invested in videography to the point of opening his own studio where he’s mastered story-telling in a visually impactful way. I cannot be more proud or excited for this human.

And so a couple months ago, during my Portland-induced hiatus from blogging/IG/sewing, Chris and I got together to produce this little gem, and I’m so excited to finally share it with you all. I hope you enjoy learning a little more about me and my background in sewing and making, and one more shout out to Hollie Dolly for starting the Seamstress Tag as well.

You can find more of Chris’s work at GoodcoStudios.comYouTube and Instagram. Enjoy!

P.s. John says my mention of my Nausicaa costume is a little weird, and in hindsight, he’s probably right. It’s not that I can’t or shouldn’t let my freak flag fly, but that it really doesn’t fit in with what I normally do or make and it may not be the best representation of my normal aesthetic. That said, I’m pretty sure that’s why I love it so! It’s such a departure from what I normally get my hands dirty with, and it was a really fun and eye-opening project for many other reasons.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to set my intention for Me Made May of 2018:

I pledge to wear at least one article of Me Made clothing every day of every weekend in the month of May and every day of our holiday towards the end of the month. I’ll be sharing my progress with Instagram posts and a round-up blog post after the end of the month.

Thanks for sharing this space with me. I hope you have a lovely week ahead.
